"Love is the answer at least for most of the questions in my heart; Why are we here and where do we go and how come it's so hard? It's not always easy and sometimes life can be deceiving. I'll tell you one thing it's always better when we're together!" - Jack Johnson

One Year!
Over the weekend we celebrated Katie's 1st Birthday. (Pictures of that still to come, I forgot my camera so I am stealing pictures from other people.) This past year went by extremely fast - it really does not seem like a year ago that Katie was born. Katie was 8 pounds 12 ounces when she was born. She now weighs 23.5 pounds. She is just under the 75th percentile for her height and just below the 90th percentile for her weight. Her head size is still off the chart, but they've pretty much ruled that genetic. Katie has FINALLY learnt how to roll over and she is oh-so-close to crawling. On a normal day Katie is the happiest girl in the world and is very content to play with a remote on the carpet for hours watching Logan. (I miss that little girl! Katie's had a bug for the past 6 days - making her feverish and CRABBY!)

Logan's Trip to Hawaii
I picked up Logan and my mom from the airport today and got a GREAT big hug and an "I missed you mommy!" Logan, my mom and my sister left last Sunday for a week's vacation in Waikiki. They had excellent weather and spent the week sitting on the beach, by the pool, at the zoo and shopping. Below are a couple of pictures my sister took during the week.
Apparently Logan slept most of the flight there and back. He was a little hyper on the first flight from Calgary to Vancouver, but after that he was zonked out.

WHL Champions
Tonight we went and watched the Hitmen play against the Tri-City American's in game 5 of the WHL finals. The saddledome was almost PACKED! There were so many people there and it was so loud inside! The game was awesome and the Hitmen won 4-1 - winning the WHL championship and are now moving on to the Memorial Cup in Brandon.
Below are two pictures my mom took of Logan during the game. When Logan goes to a hockey game with Grandma he gets completely spoiled AND sugared up! He absolutely loves cotton candy. Logan made lots of friends this game too. He was sharing his popcorn with everyone and giving out high fives left, right and centre. The 2nd picture is of Logan and his new best bud, Ralph Klein. We sure are happy the Hitmen won, but man are we sad the season is over. (The home games at least, you can bet we'll be watching the Memorial Cup!)

Proof of Progress
As you can see we're finally making progress! Katie is slowly learning how to roll over. About time too! We have been meeting with Mrs. Enns (a friend of the Wiens family) once a week to work on Katie's mobility. Helen is a physiotherapist for small children and she volunteered to work with us to help with Katie while we wait to hea from the Children's Hospital physio team. It's only been two weeks, but man have we seen a huge improvement already! Katie is much more content playing and laying on her stomach and has pretty much mastered rolling from her tummy to her back and is slowly, but surely, learning how to roll from her back to her tummy.

11 Months
Katie was 11 months as of Monday - however, at that time I was having a difficult time finding anything good to say about her. She was teething over the weekend and was super cranky because of it. She cried and cried, didn't sleep well and was refusing to eat. Thankfully she's back to her normal cheerful self now.
We got Katie's ultrasound results back and everything is fine and normal with her liver. The doctor's office can't find her hip xray results though. I've been calling twice a week to remind them and they keep saying "We'll look into it", but they never seem to get anywhere. I plan to keep calling until they find them or send us back for another xray. We finally got a call from the Children's hospital in regards to our referal to their physio therapist. However, it will still be a couple of weeks before we can be seen. In the mean time we have started our own physio sessions with a family friend of the Wienses. Hopefully this will get Katie rolling and crawling. She has started bum scooting and army crawling- backwards though. She pushes herself all over our living room until she gets stuck under a piece of furniture.

As I mentionned earlier, Katie had been refusing to eat for a while there. Anything you put into her mouth would come shooting back out - making meal time very messy!
This weekend Mark and I have been hard at work in the backyard. Our backyard is pretty much at the worst possible state it could get right now. We took out the 5 huge poplar trees and still need to remove the stumps. The fence needs painting, the lawn seeded, hedges pruined, etc etc. But right now we're trying to level off a spot in the yard to set up our new trampoline. Here are the before shots, and at the end of the summer, when we're all done, I'll post the after pictures.
