Hapuna Beach

Mark could not wait to return to Hapuna Beach - last year when we were here he and Logan had a BLAST boogie boarding. This is by far our favorite beach. So naturally, we spent our first day there! Mark was disappointed in the size of the waves - as the ocean was very calm. But Logan and Ty still had a blast boogie boarding and spent the entire morning/early afternoon in the water.

And Katie? Katie again surprised us all. Last year Katie was PETRIFIED of the water. This year she can't get enough of it! She too spent the entire day playing in the waves.

She didn't even care if a wave would knock her over and pull her under. She'd get back up and keep on playing. She never complained about the salt water or sand (and she had sand EVERYWHERE! She rolled around in the surf like a swim suit model the entire day.)

This is how I was hoping Katie would spend the day... in the sand with a bucket and shovel. Nice and easy to watch both her and Carson at the same time. She did play like this for a while, but it wasn't long before she was back in the water. And I don't blame her, the sand was hot! The temperature reached about 86 degrees, but it was SUPER windy. Our umbrellas, beach towels, hats, pretty much anything that wasn't weighed down blew away several times.

And Carson.... because it was so windy I couldn't have the umbrella open for shade, so poor Carson was banished to his stroller majority of the day. He did pretty good for being so off of schedule. (Did I mention all 3 of our kids were up at 5:30 this morning???) He had little cat naps in his stroller. I did take him down to the ocean and dip his feet in - which he didn't seem to mind. But I'm so worried about him getting sun burnt that he will be staying in the shade for majority of our trip. (Katie and Logan both got a little bit sun burnt today. Katie on her back and shoulders, Logan on his face - under his eyes, like usual.)

We left the beach shortly after lunch so Katie and Carson could get a good nap in. Logan insisted he didn't need a nap went and played in the pool instead. He definitely could have used a nap.
