And that's what insurance is for!

Well... it is 12:20am and Mark has still not made it home from work. No, it wasn't a long job today.. infact, at 5pm he was on his way home... but thats when the phone call came...

"Uhhhh, Mark.... I have a little problem here that I may need your help with."

Uncle John, you're quite the liar. That was no little problem!!

I don't know ALL the details... Mark would be much better at explaining it in depth.. but since he's not home, you'll have to settle on my shortened version. (You can ask him in person about it later... I'm sure its something he won't get sick of talking about for a while!!)

Uncle John and Greg were done loading the truck for BC and were headed back to the shop for the day. They rounded the corner of 11th Street SE and 26th Ave SE when all of a sudden the truck tipped and the box of the truck came crashing off and slammed into the street light. Luckily when it tipped it was the kick of the truck that crashed into the pole, and not the windshield!! Both Uncle John and Greg came out without any scratches... which is more than we can say for the truck and its contents!!

There were several police cars, fire trucks and city wide tow-ers were on scene by the time I got there with the video camera. And they're all still there right now trying to get it cleaned up.

When I left they had the box moved away from the street light and had it hanging upright suspended from the tow trucks. They were trying to get it onto the back of a flat bed truck so they could haul it back to the shop. However, in order to do so they had to cut off the steps and the tool boxes so that it wouldn't sit too high for them to drive under traffic lights and power wires.

Everyone was worried that the truck was going to rip open or break in half and there would be furniture strewn across the road, hence Mark and Chris being there still. They have his moving truck empty and ready to be loaded just incase that does happen. But, hopefully everything goes according to plan and Mark is home soon!

Our first night at the acreage

After Mark was done work on Saturday, we headed out to the acreage to spend our first night in our trailer. We got there around 4:00pm, set up our trailer and enjoyed a nice birthday dinner/cake with Grandpa & Grandma, Kaitlin, Kyle, Connor and Uncle Jerry. It was a really nice night so we sat around the fire and made smores until about 10:30. Our first night in the trailer wasn't picture perfect.. when I went to the washroom around 1:00am I was surprised to find about an inch of water covering the bathroom floor. Our toilet seems to have a leak in it!! Mark and Grandpa spent a couple hours on Sunday trying to get it fixed. (When we left the acreage yesterday afternoon it was still in pieces and Grandpa was going to see if he could figure it out.) Other than that small set back, the weekend was really good. Duke ran and swam all weekend long. He was like the energizer bunny... he kept going and going and going..... He got to chase a deer through the field, well, he attempted to chase the deer. He's quite slow. He had a great time as always, and if you saw him today you'd be shocked, he's like a completely different dog. He's so tired all he does is lay around sleeping. We're looking forward to going out there again - hopefully this coming weekend!!

The long awaited...

Here they are!! FINALLY!!

Mark quickly took these tonight after we got home from a delicious dinner with the whole family at Mom and Dad Wienses. When I look at these pictures I can't believe how massive my tummy is!! I'm about the size of a house!! I look HUGE!! But honestly, I don't feel that big!! Sometimes I worry that people just think I've packed on a few pounds and don't know I'm pregnant.... but after seeing these pictures, I'm pretty sure nobody's making that mistake!!! And I still have 6 weeks to go!! Ahhhhh!!!!!!

Our craaaazy dog!

Wow! It has been a while since I've last posted anything!! I guess we have just been too busy enjoying this BEAUTIFUL weather!!! Since I last posted we have spent quite a bit of our time outside; working on the lawn (which I swear is a lost cause!! The harder we try to get rid of our dandelions, the more appear!! It's quite frustrating!!) or walking the dog, or out at the acreage.

Speaking of the acreage, we haven't had the chance to spend the night out in our new trailer yet.. just day trips. Which is probably a good thing... we need to slowly ease Duke into the acreage life. Right now, I don't think he can handle more than one day at a time. He is absolutely NUTS there!! From the moment you first get there and let him out of the jeep, to the moment at the very end of the day where you have to tackle him and wrestle him back into the jeep, he just runs and runs and runs - non stop!! He thinks the acreage is just the greatest place out there... especially now that he's discovered he can swim in the pond. (He's created his own little game where he runs, dives into the pond, swims around a bit, jumps back out, runs full speed into the centre of a group of people, where he then proceeds to violently shake all the water/mud of, and then runs back to the pond to do it all over again. Fun for him, but not for the innocent bystander!) At the end of the day, we no longer have a golden retriever, but a mud hound - a very sore and tired mud hound who sleeps and sleeps for hours!

I think Brett said it best.... "Duke is a craaaaaazy dog!!"

We've also been pretty busy preparing for the baby to arrive. We've started our prenatal classes at the Foothills hospital (2 down, 4 more to go!) and have been slowly coming to an agreement on baby names. The bookshelf for the nursery still hasn't arrived, so we haven't done anything more in there yet. Luckily, we still have more than a month and a half to go!! Despite some annoying allergies that won't go away, I've been feeling pretty good - HOT, but pretty good. My ankles and fingers still swell occasionally, but I really don't mind having the exscuse to lay down and put my feet up for a while. This weekend I did manage to go and take an unexpected tour of Unit 51, Labor & Delivery at the Foothills. We weren't sure if my water broke, so we went down there just to double check. Obviously, it didn't break... but they think there may be a small tear - hence the leaking amniotic fluid. After a day and a half of laying down on my side, everything seems to be back to normal. A little disappointing after you get yourself all excited thinking that the baby is coming - but, in the end, it's good that the baby is waiting a little bit longer to make its appearance. I will try to take some photos of my growing belly sometime soon.. I keep meaning to!!
