Katie's Anthem

Katie LOVES Taylor Swift's song, Mean. She loves it so much that every morning when she wakes up she belts it out at the top of her lungs. She sings along to it on the radio and will bring Mark the iPod begging, "Mean! Mean!" I can see why she likes it so much, not only is it a catchy tune, but its also Katie's theme song. She can relate to it. The song is about a bully who's always mean... can I say, Logan?? :)

I have tried and tried and tried to get it on video, but everytime I take the camera out she gets distracted and will only stand there saying "Cheeeeeeese!" But today Taylor Swift was preforming the song live on Ellen. Katie was distracted enough by seeing it on TV that I managed to catch her singing parts of it. Although, its not her best performance.

Happy 2nd Birthday Katie!

It's hard to believe, but Katie turned 2 this week! I say its hard to believe, not because I still consider her a baby or can't believe how time flies... but because in my mind, she's been two for a while. Katie is quite a bit bigger than other kids her age. And she speaks 10x better than Logan did when he was her age. She just seems like she's already been two for a while. Infact, when strangers heard it was her birthday, they all assumed she was turning 3. I guess she's just one big, smart cookie!

The birthday festivities started with dinner out at Montana's. When Logan told our waitress that today was Katie's birthday, she asked us if we wanted the staff to come out and sing happy birthday with the big moose antler hat. Although that would have been funny, I wasn't about to make a bunch of strangers sing happy birthday to a two year old, and I'm SURE Katie would have freaked out about the moose hat! So, instead we settled for birthday ice cream cones. Only on your birthday can you eat two icecream cones at once! (Sorry for the bad cell phone picture below!)

When we got home from dinner we dove right into birthday party mode (well, after a bath of course!) We went with a Dora themed party, complete with a Dora cake and giant Dora balloon.

Cupcake Monster

I gave Katie a cupcake the other day, ran upstairs to grab my camera, and when I got back downstairs... this is all that was left. She ate the ENTIRE cupcake in under 30 seconds.

Yummmm... finger lickin' good!

"Uhhh.... why did I eat that entire cupcake? Where's my self control?"

"I think I'm going to throw up!"

"Don't look at me!"

Playing Outside

We've been taking advantage of the nice weather this past week and spent every waking moment outside. We played on the trampoline, at the park, in the backyard and yesterday afternoon, sidewalk chalk!

Who needs sidewalk chalk when there's dirt to play with!

Pictures from our Trip to the zoo last week

Doesn't Mark look THRILLED to be at the zoo?

My attempt of getting Logan to stand still for a picture...

Good enough!

Bend it like Beckham

Mark and I both swore along time ago that when we had kids they would NEVER play soccer. Neither Mark or I have ever played or have ever had any interest in soccer. Mark thinks soccer is the girliest sport a boy can play, and I think it is uber boring. But, some how Mark and I now find ourselves having Logan enrolled on TWO soccer teams. TWO! WHAT have we gotten ourselves into?!

On Saturday's Logan plays in the timbits league at the dry pond in Killarney (26th Ave and 28th Street at 10am if you want to come out and watch!) His team is the RED ROVERS.

Before they start each practice they all circle around and cheer "RED ROVERS! Arf Arf Arf!"

Uhhh, Logan.... I don't think this next picture helps disprove daddy's theory that soccer is a girly game.

We were a little worried that Logan would be the worst player on his team, and that Mark and I would be super embarrased everytime we had to go cheer him on (I know, we're great parents). But he's not AWFUL. No David Beckham (the only soccer name I know - and thats only because he's married to Posh Spice... go Spice Girls!!)

I really like Logan's two coaches. They are VERY organized, prepared and dedicated to the team. They get the kids excited about every drill and aren't afraid to make fools of themselves infront of the other parents.

At the end of each practice the coaches organize a game against another team. Today's game was against the white team... who I think is one of the youngest teams. Not surprisingly three white kids ended up crying after the big mean red rovers pushed them out of the way to get to the ball.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays Logan plays soccer and Tball in Wildwood. (They alternate nights). Mark took him to his first Tuesday game. On this team Logan is the youngest player (most kids are 5 already). Again, Mark didn't have to stick his head in the sand or pretend he was there cheering for some other kid. Logan even came really close to scoring a goal, but missed the net by a foot.

Tball pictures to come. (Neither Mark or I have been to one of his Tball games yet due to work and sickness).

Fluke? Or pure Genius?

Ok, maybe not PURE genius... seeing as how the letter 'N' is flipped backwards.... (and I'm not too sure what the other couple letters on the page are). But Logan came up to us with this sign this morning asking if we could tape it to his door. He's no art major, but the sign says "No Girls". Mark and I were pretty impressed with how he had managed to write the word "No" all by himself. We've been working on other words, like Mom, Dad, Logan and Katie... but not "No".
