Hockey's #1 Fan!

I feel bad. I was looking over my past couple of blog entries and 90% of them are all about Katie. Poor Logan. So, I thought I would dedicate this entire next post to him.

If you know Logan, you know there's one thing he loves more than anything in the entire world... HOCKEY! Logan lives for hockey. Every morning I have to fight with him and try to explain why he can't wear his hockey jerseys EVERY day. If we would let him, he'd wear his helmet and gloves to bed. He'd trade in his blanket and soother for a puck and hockey stick.

Anytime you ask Logan what he wants to do, the answer is "Play HOCKEY!!" He loves to play hockey. He has claimed our kitchen floor as his rink - and gets mad when I unload the dishwasher and yells, "MOM! Get off the ice!! It's hockey time!" He usually starts his games off by singing "O' Canada" (his own rendition of course, all though he is fairly good at remembering all the words, just not in the correct order.)

After he's done the National Anthem he yells, in his own, cute little announcer voice, "Lead by Number Firty One, Martin Jooooooones, your Calgary HITMEN!" Logan LOVES the Hitmen. He has been extremely spoiled and has gone to many games. He knows a lot of the players' names. When you play with Logan he'll tell you, "Me Broda, You Shultz!"

And while playing hockey with Logan, don't be surprised if he all of a sudden drops his gloves and starts a fight. It's not that Logan loves fighting, he just likes going to the "naughty box". And, he'll tell you when you have to stop playing because it's "Zamboni time!". He then runs, grabs his remote control Zamboni (which he got for Christmas from Uncle Brian and Auntie Bobby) and proceeds to "fix the ice".

Logan's newest hockey obsession is hockey cards. My mom and dad bought him a couple packs early this week and have created a MONSTER! Logan loves playing with them. He lines them all up on our coffee table in rows. He points to each one saying "Whats this guys name?" He's getting to know more and more player and team names. His favorite cards are the goalies - and his prized possession, his Kiprusoff card.

Mark and I have already agreed, as soon as Logan is old enough, and knows how to skate, we will put him in hockey. Although, that may be a while... Mark and I have taken him skating a couple of times, and well, Logan really isn't much of a skater. He spends most of his time sprawled out on the ice. We just have to keep reminding ourselves that he is only two.

Often I'm tempted to hide all the hockey sticks and hockey cards and try to get him to play cars instead. I can only play so much hockey! I've tried to convince him that girls don't play hockey, only boys... but he doesnt buy that. Way to ruin it for me Hailey Wickenheiser! But if we hide the sticks, he'll find his little Zambonis and play with those instead. Or he'll drag you to the computer and ask to see Zamboni videos on YouTube or go to the Flames and Hitmen's websites. He'll bring you his books about hockey, or ask you to sing "the hockey song!" (Although, it is cute when he belts out "Hello out there, we're on the air!") He has a one track mind! HOCKEY!

My little sicky

Both of our kids have been suffering from some pretty bad colds this past week. Runny noses, fevers and annoying coughs. The past two nights were especially rough for Katie. The poor girl was up all night. Her nose was all stuffed, she had a high fever, a sore throat and she kept grabbing and pulling on her ears. So this morning I took her to our family doctor. Turns out that on top of this crappy cold, Katie also has a throat infection (similar to strep), So she is on some heavy duty antibiotics for the next 10 days.

After dinner Katie was laying on the living room floor playing while I was unloading the dishwasher in the kitchen. Suddenly I realized it was awfully quiet, and when I peaked over the counter to check on her, this is how I found her.... I guess she was catching up on some much needed sleep!
